Ok we’ve all done it.  We want information a website has to offer but we don’t want to provide our contact information because we don’t want our email filling up with spam or we don’t want phone calls offering products or services we don’t want or need.  So we register with phony information!

I have a real estate website that offers free access to homes listed for sale and this draws many people onto my website.  While users are given a free look at a list of houses for sale, at some point on the site they will be asked to register before they can access unlimited information on homes for sale.

  

At this point, I’m sure there’s a bit of disappointment and irritation.  I understand! I know you’re just looking and you want to remain anonymous and you’re not at the point of “doing anything” just yet.  You don’t want boatloads of junk mail to sort through and you don’t want interruptive phone calls.

I get it!  I respect those feelings as I too, am an online shopper who just wants to pull information from the internet without being subjected to spam or robo-calls!

Homes listed for sale on my website are linked to the local Multiple Listing Service which has rules governing homes shown.  These rules stipulate that homes sold or under contract are flagged appropriately so that homes shown as available are actually available.  Agents are motivated to follow these rules or face financial penalties.  How many times have you found a listing on Zillow or other internet sites only to find that the home was sold months ago?!
4. My website has search parameters that enable you to search by city, zip code, or subdivision. Few of the well-known search sites can search by neighborhood and some pull everything within a 25 mile radius of the city or zip code you enter!
